The grand opening of South Lake Union's new Italian-inspired cafe takes place October 20 from 2:30 to 5:30pm. Customers can sample various coffees and housemade baked goods and receive a 30 percent discount on merchandise all day. 

Coastal Kitchen
After an extensive remodel, Coastal Kitchen reopens Saturday with a larger cocktail bar, an oyster counter, and a new seafoodcentric menu feauturing a nightly $2 oyster special.   

The popular, Troy Aikman–endorsed wing chain has opened its first area location in Bellevue—and Hanna Raskin is all over it. Fans will be happy to know several more locations are slated for the next few years. A grand opening is planned for November 9 through 11, complete with wing-eating contest.

Boungu KenKen
Phinneywood spots a new Haitian food truck called Boungu KenKen at 9796 Holman Road across from the QFC.

Seattle Salads
After a year and a half of perfecting her product at various street fairs, Desirae Rabe is opening a salad-centric eatery in the erstwhile New York Cupcakes space, reports Madison Park Blogger. Order from a premade menu or get creative with the made-to-order combinations.  


Intentional Table
Zoe Bartlett's dream of running a food and wine studio celebrating the Pacific Northwest will become a reality around Thanksgiving. Bartlett and Linda Brandt, a former cooking show producer, are opening the cooking school, specialty store, and launchpad for culinary excursions on Madrona Lane on Bainbridge Island.

Two weren't enough: Maria Hines is planning a third restaurant spotlighting southern Italian cuisine; it will likely open in Fremont. Agrodolce will be somewhere between Tilth and Golden Beetle in price and vibe, according to Hines, who plans to showcase her love of making pasta. Diners can expect an Oregon Tilth organic certification and a craft cocktail list. 

Beacon Ave Sandwiches
Beacon Hill Blog reports that Beacon Ave Sandwiches will open at the former Luisa Taqueria, which closed several months ago. The owners say the store, where customers can buy sandwiches and meat and cheese by the pound, will be "like something that would have been on Beacon Hill in the 1920s." 

Plum Bistro food truck
Makini Howell, proprietor of Plum Bistro and several other vegetarian eateries, is looking to roll out Seattle's first vegan truck. Howell is using kickstarter to fund the endeavor. 


Matt's in the Market: Chester Gerl
After years at the quintessential Seattle restaurant, chef Chester Gerl is leaving his post and heading to New York to be closer to family. Sous chef Shane Ryan will run the kitchen on an interim basis starting December 1. Gerl will go on to work with Marc Meyer, a New York chef.

Salty's on Alki: George Foley
George Foley, a third-generation baker from Maine who previously worked at Purple Cafe in Bellevue, is the new pastry chef at Salty's. Some of the items you'll see on his dessert menu: Husky Deli ice Cream, Grand Marnier cheesecake, and white chocolate mousse cake.


Thai Curry Simple food truck
After months of research, owner Mark Pinkaow has scrapped plans for a Thai Curry Simple food truck. "There was time that I believed a food truck was the best way to introduce a Thai street menu," says Pinkaow. "But it's not a good time. So sad to let it go."

As part of its growing baked goods empire, the local sandwich chain is forgoing its two-year relationship with Macrina in favor of breads made in house.   

611 Supreme
According to a Facebook post, the Capitol Hill restaurant will no longer serve lunch. Hours for happy hour in the lounge will also change to Sunday through Thursday from 5 to 6:30pm and 10 to midnight.

Ballard Pizza Company
The Ethan Stowell pizzeria now offers delivery—via souped-up bicycles and scooters—to much of the neighborhood. Delivery is available daily from 5 to 10.   


RoRo BBQ and Grill
The Ballard location of the barbecue shack has gone out of business, My Ballard reports. Other locations remain open.

All Purpose Pizza 
Eater Seattle reports that after seven years, owner Kedra Olsen will shutter the popular pizza shop due to economic hardships. She hosted a farewell party this past Monday for friends and fans to help polish off the beer and food.
