This Week in Happy Hour: New Edition

Cool it now, not the R&B group with Bobby Brown, but new restaurants with new happy hour menus.

Tinctures, egg whites, fresh herbs...that means cocktails at Percy's and Co.

It has been a busy year for restaurant openings thus far, and the hits just keep on coming. Even in the past couple weeks we've had several spots open up for business, like Renee Erickson's new wine bar Barnacle, Ethan Stowell's tiny neighborhood spot Mkt., an Italian sandwich shop Quadrato, and chef Derek Ronspies's Le Petit Cochon, to name a few.

These spots below have been open long enough to get happy hour menus in place. And with the amount of new spots on the docket, this is just the beginning to the new happy hour menus we'll be seeing around town. 

Westward and Little Gull
Prime afternoon hours on an Adirondack at Westward means happy hour from 2:30 to 5pm, with nibble hour from 5 to 5:30 on weekdays—also on weekends from 4:30 to 5:30. Said nibbles hew Mediterranean, like marinated olives, fried chickpeas, a jar of house pickled fruits and veggies, and radishes with goat butter, all for $3. And there are main dishes, too, ranging from $6 to $13. Quick-fried squid with skothalia, grilled halloumi cheese with watermelon, or an Oregon lamb burger with tomato jam, feta, and pickled onion would make for a tasty early supper.

Triumph Bar
Owner and brother team Jim and Brandon Marsh are both sommeliers. So don’t be surprised to see the wine list options numbering in the 300s at this new bar on Queen Anne. Of which, one red and one white is $6 at happy hour from 3 to 6pm and again from 10pm to close. Fried pickles with spicy mayo, truffle popcorn, and prosciutto with melon are a few of the snacks ranging from $3 to $6. And a house favorite Sriracha margarita comes in at $7.

This newer Fremont seafood house premiered happy hour last Thursday from 4 to 6pm, and from here on out it’s everyday. A crispy fried oyster roll with Neuskies bacon, Columbia River surf smelt with a jalapeno malt vinegar, and Fijian tombo tuna crudo with bonita pickles are a few of the dishes that debuted on the menu. Draft beers are $4, select glass pours are $5, and a rotating specialty cocktail comes in at $7.

Percy’s and Co.
Cozy up in a curved booth inside or on the back patio with heaters and blankets for happy hour at this new Ballard Ave spot. It’s from 4 to 6pm daily and all day long on Mondays. Herbaceous tinctures from Dandelion Botanical Company and unusual bar concoctions are a big draw here. And a handful of cocktails are $5 to $8 at HH. (The Herrick Helper for $6 is sage-infused bourbon, grapefruit, house sour, and fresh sage.) Snacks include a cheese board with house jam and pickles, pork rillettes, and a marinated chickpea salad. It’s a dollar off all bottles and cans of beer and wines by the glass as well.
