This week: Cal's Classic American comes to South Lake Union, a new biscuit mobile, and Sambar says goodbye.

Cal's Classic American: South Lake Union
The sibling to Cal's Classic American Tavern in Kent is now open at at 404 Terry Ave with a spacious, rugged layout. Sip craft cocktails at the ample bar, or pour your own beers at a communal tap table. Cal's is open for lunch and dinner, with brunch starting this Saturday.

Seattle Biscuit Company
Biscuit people, rejoice. We now have a food truck dedicated to the crusty cakes. Sam Thompson and David Hanson debuted their bakery-on-wheels this past weekend. Featured are cheesy grits and biscuit sandwiches with hyperlocal sourcing in mind. The food truck has yet to nail down locations, so keep tabs on its whereabouts via Facebook and Twitter

The rum-centric sibling of Tango is pouring from its list of more than 100 liquors, including labels both familiar and farflung: Mt. Gay, Gosling's, Appleton, Lemonhart 151, and Rhum J.M. Manager Kate Perry suggests patrons who want to expand their rum horizons start with Neisson Rhum Blanc or "anything aged." 

Wine Tea Chocolate
The Fremont cafe specializing in the eponymous goods (plus coffee!) is now open. Owner Christopher Gronbeck will showcase artisanal purveyors and use the lofty space to host demos, tastings, and talks. Hours are 7am to midnight daily.

Top Pot Doughnuts: Redmond
The doughnut machine plants yet another one. The newest Top Pot at 16015 Cleveland Street opens in Redmond today, according to Facebook.

The Raygun Lounge
The Stranger posts that the gamer hangout is officially open for business at 501 E Pine St, with room for about 50 people to play RPGs and board games. Plans for drink and food service are still to come.  


Park Place Deli
After a temporary closure, the Madison Park deli has reopened under new management, reports Madison Park Blogger.


Bambino's Pizzeria
The pizza place has built a bar befitting of that excellent beer selection. Check out pictures on Facebook.

The Olive and Grape
The Turkish-Italian eatery has finished a remodel complete with new bar, posts Phinneywood. The two-year-old restaurant cooks everything from scratch using 100-year-old family recipes.  

Coastal Kitchen
Owner Jeremy Hardy celebrates the 20th anniversary of Coastal with a hefty remodel. The Capitol Hill fixture will add a marble-topped oyster bar, a cocktail bar, outdoor seating, refurbished kitchen floors, and a fresh layer of paint. Seattle Times reports Coastal will close from September 23 through October 8.

Grace KitchenElemental Wood-Fired Pizza
James Allard and Steve Rosen, the duo behind Blue C Sushi and Boom Noodle, are replacing the one-year-old Grace Kitchen at University Village with a new pizza project, according to the Seattle Times. They want to give the area a "great, watch-the-pizza-being-tossed, made fresh, put in the oven, and delivered quickly to you" sort of place, and hope to open Elemental by the middle of next month.

The EliteThe Hillside Bar
The Hillside Bar, boasting a midcentury kitsch look and small tiki room, is replacing the abruptly shuttered Elite on Olive Way, according to CHS. The bar won't open until December.

Jones Barbeque: Seattle Hog Heaven
The barbecue pit reopens under a different name: Seattle Hog Heaven. West Seattle Blog reports that the reopening date was pushed back from September 15 due to extended renovations and the death of co-owner Joyce Lee Jones.

Meander's Kitchen
After rumors circulated that Meander's was moving to Delridge, owner Miranda Krowne has chosen a new spot in White City. In an interview with West Seattle Herald, Krowne says she will take over the former Papa's Pub space October 1 and give herself two months of prep time before reopening.


Rainier Restaurant and BBQ
The Rainier Valley sit-down known for its exotics meats is considering launching a food truck, Franklin Chau, son of owners Andy and Minh Chau, says in an interview with Seattle Weekly.  


Say your farewells to Sambar: After an extended run, the vaunted cocktail bar is turning off the lights September 29.
