The Spirited Awards are to the bar and drinks industry what the Grammys are to musicians: They're kind of a big deal. This year’s crop of 10 nominees—with categories honoring bars, bartenders, brand ambassadors, and even podcasters—includes several from Seattle.
Chris Elford—formerly of Canon and currently of Trade Winds Tavern, Navy Strength, Rob Roy, and the upcoming Here Today Brewery—snagged a nomination for U.S. Bartender of the Year. Trade Winds Tavern, which he co-owns with fellow industry elite Anu Apte, also earned a nod for Best New U.S. Cocktail Bar.
The Mountaineering Club clinched a nom for Best U.S. Hotel Bar (with those panoramic views atop the Graduate hotel, we see why), while L'Oursin snagged a finalist spot in the Best U.S. Restaurant Bar category. Rounding out the local nominees, Capitol Hill joints Rumba and The Doctor’s Office both were named nominated for World’s Best Spirits Selection.
The top four from each category will be named on June 21, with the winners being selected on July 28. For now, you can see the full list of nominees here.
