Now brewing at Caffe Vita: Coffee and philanthropy

All of these nuggets of wisdom are in Phaidon Press’s book Where Chefs Eat, which is now on sale. McGill lists Café Presse, Quinn’s Pub, La Bete, and a few others Seattle locales.

Caffe Vita
plays curator and producer to the newly released, digital GIVE 2013 musical compilation. The coffee roasters collaborated with various northwest artists, and funded this project to benefit The Vera Project. One hundred percent of all $10 proceeds go to the non-profit. You can check it out online.

In the wake of the shooting at Twilight Exit on Sunday, the Seattle Times reports more details about James D. Anderson—the man who fired on two people inside the bar before being killed by police. The New City Collegian has some witness accounts of the event. Meanwhile, the bar reopened on Tuesday and is planning a karaoke fundraiser for employee Greg McCormick, who was shot in the leg.

Mike Easton says a limited amount of his dried pasta (it’s made from Italian durum wheat!) has arrived at Il Corvo. Packages of gigli, fusilli, and ditalini will be available for $8 at the counter only while supplies last.

To mark International Eat Ice Cream for Breakfast Day (which apparently is a thing) this Saturday, February 2, the Full Tilt in White Center will be cooking up free Belgium waffles to give away to customers who buy a scoop—but only while supplies last. According to Full Tilt’s Facebook page, the feast begins at 10:30am.
