The Audacity

By Josh Feit January 21, 2009

Our regular Obama correspondent—still hung over from the Western States Inaugural Ball last night—looks at some important lines from President Obama's inaugural speech

But let’s look at a few items of daring stuff.  “With old friends and former foes, we will work tirelessly to lessen the nuclear threat, and roll back the specter of a warming planet.”  In this sentence, Obama is equating the importance of reducing North Korea or Iran’s nuclear threat to the threat of global warming.  Environmentalists all climaxed at the same time methinks.

But that wasn’t all to make environmentalists have a big o. “And to those nations like ours that enjoy relative plenty … can we consume the world’s resources without regard to effect. For the world has changed, and we must change with it.”
