Colectivo Felix Popup at JarrBar
Based in Argentina, this traveling culinary caravan of chefs is sharing their appreciation of Latin cuisine, and their last tour stop is in Seattle at JarrBar, from 6pm until the food runs out. Chef Diego Felix will have small South American–inspired bites made with Pacific Northwest ingredients. Recent Colectivo Felix events had dishes like rockfish aguachile with yams and peppercorn oil, smoked seafood tamal made with a squash seed mole and apple chimichirri, and for dessert a dulce de leche mousse with banana flambe. Needed: an appetite for unique small bites running $8 to $18 each. Not needed: reservations.

Baby Goats and Brews
When Puget Sound Goat Rescue announced on Facebook that they’re bringing baby goats to Ballard, Seattle collectively lost their minds. Over 24,000 farm animal–loving Facebook users said they’re interested in attending the Baby Goats and Brews fundraising event this Thursday at Reuben’s Brews. From noon until 8, head to the brewery, claim your ticket to cuteness, drink some beer while you wait, then join about seven others for baby goat time. As part of Reuben’s Brews ongoing series, Thank You Thursdays, the brewery will donate $1 from every pint, flight, and growler fill to PSGR.
‘The Glass Menagerie’ at Cafe Nordo’s Culinarium
Dine on Southern fare as you watch a reimagined performance of Tennessee William’s classic play, The Glass Menagerie, which sort of combines the “gotta catch ‘em all” mentality of PokemonGo and the pre-Tinder era of dating. Will Laura Wingfield’s gentleman caller swipe right? Jokes aside, this three-course dinner and show premieres Thursday in Pioneer Square at 7:30. Tickets are $80.

Old Ballard Liquor Company’s Crayfish Feast
That fish cray. A Scandinavian summertime tradition, go crazy for crayfish with Old Ballard Liquor Company and its popup offshoot, Tumble Swede, at the Pacific Fishermen Shipyard in Ballard from 7pm to 11pm. Locally caught crayfish, also known as crawfish, will be poached in beer and served with wild fennel. Also on the menu: savory cheese pie with onions and mushrooms, boiled new potatoes with butter and dill, rye crispbread, and elderflower ice cream. To drink, aquavit of course; taste it straight-up or in cocktail form. There will also be local beer and wine available. Tickets are $50 per person. Also, maybe don’t wear white.

Salt and Straw Popup at La Marzocco Cafe
A blessed reminder that summer is not yet over, Portland ice creamery Salt and Straw will be popping up in Seattle this weekend at the La Marzocco cafe in the new KEXP building. There will scoops of sea salt with caramel ribbons, strawberry honey balsamic with black pepper, plus roasted parsnip and banana sorbet. Where there is espresso there is affogato. Here, this caffeinated dessert will be made with Campos Coffee and a choice of toasted white chocolate, sea salt with caramel, or freckled Woodblock chocolate. Scoops will happen Friday and Saturday from noon to 8 and Sunday, 10 to 3.

Kraken Congee Hosts Kamonegi Popup
Former Miyabi 45th chef, Mutsuko Soma, returns to the popup scene after a four-month hiatus and has her handmade soba noodle favorites in store. The six-course prix fixe dinner includes Northwest albacore poke with squid ink nori, buckwheat congee with clam, bacon, and kuzu bonito sauce, and a choice of spicy miso duck soba or kamo seiro, which is cold noodles with hot dipping sauce, duck breast, and more. The meal at Pioneer Square’s Kraken Congee begins at 6:30 with cocktails and tickets are $80.
Ticket Alert: Asian American Journalist Association Hosts Seattle Chef Showcase
On August 29, chefs Lisa Nakamura of Gnocchi Bar, Garrett Doherty of Kraken Congee, Kenneth Lee of Lionhead, and more will be demonstrating recipes and doling out bites at this media networking event meets dinner party. There will be beer from Fremont Brewing and Tranche Cellars wine to sip on too. Tickets are $50 and proceeds go towards the Asian American Journalist Association’s Seattle chapter and their programs such as college scholarships for aspiring journalists, career development, and community outreach.
