Two new restaurants, both due east of Capitol Hill in Madison Valley and the Central District, sent word they will commence brunch service this weekend...

Fat's Chicken and Waffles
The new Li'l Woody's sibling in the former home of Catfish Corner seems like a natural contender for brunch, given its focus on waffles and juicy fried chicken. There is indeed a fried chicken biscuit sandwich (with a fried egg, bacon...and gravy), plus similarly southern-styled dishes like shrimp and grits, straight-up biscuits and gravy, a pimento BLT, and a benedict that involves Fat's fried green tomatoes. Brunch entrees are all $8 apiece, and the beverage lineup includes mimosas, bloody marys, and even Pedialyte for those in serious need of hydration. Brunch is served from 9 to 3.

Two Doors Down
Bottleneck Lounge's new kids-welcome burgers and beer spinoff will serve weekend brunch from 9 to 1. Yes, all the burgers are still available, but there's also a breakfast sandwich, griddled corn cakes, and some serious-sounding breakfast poutine—fries obscured beneath some southern-style white gravy, crumbled bacon, and cheese curds. Owner Erin Nestor is all about the gluten-free cider doughnut holes. Fittingly, mimosas here are of the beer variety; sounds like a solid setup for watching the Seahawks this Sunday at 10am.

Speaking of watching things, Bottleneck will be throwing Top Chef watch parties every Wednesday night so fans can root for local chef Jason Stratton—kind of a circle of life moment, since Stratton has been watching Top Chef eps at Bottleneck for years.
