Manu Alfau's Caribbean sandwich shop won't open until November, but he'll make you some paella next month in Madrona.

Aww, look at this guy. How could you not want him to make you paella?

A few weeks ago, the One Night Only project invited Manuel, or Manu, Alfau to throw a full-on Dominican Christmas-style pig roast on the absurdly charming patio belonging to the absurdly charming Bottlehouse wine bar in Madrona. Alfau, you'll remember, is preparing to open a Dominican sandwich shop, La Bodega, in Pioneer Square, a project that has sandwich lovers around our offices counting the days until its November open.

Kate Perry owns Restaurant Bea, right across the street from Bottlehouse and was so taken with Alfau's food that she invited him over to her place for his next fundraising dinner. On Sunday, October 14, Alfau will be in Bea's kitchen serving up mussel escobeche and paella.

The 6pm dinner is $35 per person, and glasses of paella-friendly sangria will run you $8. Email [email protected] to reserve a spot.
