$2 Food Walk Returns for Lunar New Year Celebration
Ring in the New Year via two-dollar street eats from over 40 local restaurants in the Chinatown-International District as well as Little Saigon. From the group that organizes several much-loved outdoor food and drink happenings, Seattle Street Food Festival brings back the $2 Food Walk at which the likes of Fuji Bakery, Crazy Cajun Pho, Tamarind Tree, Unicone Crepes, and Dim Sum King will be offering bites. Think curry buns, pan-fried humbao, and plenty of rice and noodle dishes; yes, all these dishes for two bucks each. Admission is free and the food walk goes from 11–4pm.
MONDAY, FEBRUARY 23
Meat Raffle Monday at Rhein Haus
The German bier hall formerly known as Von Trapp’s, is kicking off a new weekly event called a Meat Raffle. It is what you might think it is: folks purchase raffle tickets for $1 and wieners—er, winners—get to select housemade sausages and other cuts of meat from Rhein Haus’ glowing deli case in the foyer. On Monday evening from 7–9:30, two winners will be chosen every 30 minutes and can expect to take home a two-pound platter of Bavarian meats. And even if you don’t win, raffle participants get access to drink specials throughout the evening.
Normandy Week at Bastille
This Ballard go-to for French fare is launching a new program that explores the varied regional cuisines of France—a culinary tour du France if you will. Francophiles mark your calendars: During the third week of each month, Bastille will feature a special regionally inspired menu on weeknights. The event kicks-off Monday, February 23 and will focus on reinvented Normandy dishes as well as ciders through Thursday, February 26. There will be a handful of ciders available by the glass or try a flight of them all for $16. The menu includes a savory buckwheat crepe, a crispy cheese pastry, roasted pheasant, and more from $7–$23. Lined up for March: a menu inspired by Parisian street food.
