FRIDAY, JANUARY 9
Pike Place Old Bawdy House Party
Downtown’s go-to brewery will be hosting its annual Old Bawdy Vertical Tasting, which is oenophilic (beerophilic?) speak for tasting the same varietal from each year it was produced. Guests will taste archived vintages of Pike Place Brewery’s Old Bawdy barley wine from 2009 through 2014. The event is 6:30–9:30pm and advance tickets are $30, or $35 at the door.
SATURDAY, JANUARY 10
Campfire BBQ at Spinnaker Bay Brewery
Tucked away in the micro-neighborhood of Hillman City (read: Columbia City), Spinnaker Bay Brewery will be hosting an evening of three B’s: barbecue, brews, and bands. Slow-cooked ribs and pulled pork made with locally sourced, organic meats will be served from 5pm until gone. For entertainment, the band Ask Sophie will be playing Irish drinking songs, which probably means a drink in hand at all times is unofficially required. Campfire is also popping up Sunday, January 11 at Vermillion on Capitol Hill from 5pm until 11, to the tunes of the Dusty 45s and Massy Ferguson.
SUNDAY, JANUARY 11
BOKA Supper Series Debuts
Supper might sound like something best left to elderly relatives, but to Boka chef Kerri Roach, it's the basis of her new Sunday night dinner series, old-school meals that reflect her Southern background. Menus are full of comfort foods and served family-style, naturally. This Sunday’s first installment will be roasted chicken and buttermilk dumplings with a chicory salad, and fried green tomatoes. Future menus will include pot roast and smoked barbecue pork shoulder. $35 per person.
Sundays are for Feasting at Tavolàta
Ethan Stowell's Italian eatery in Belltown is focusing its Sunday Feasts from now until June on the exploration of various Italian regions. The first feast of 2015 will focus on the Piemonte region of northern Italy featuring various truffles, wines, and dishes such as Alba truffle risotto, and bone-in dry aged ribeye with horseradish zabaglione. Dinner begins at 6pm, is $75 per person, and reservations are required.
MONDAY, JANUARY 12
Cherry Bombe Issue 4 Launch Party at Book Larder
Fremont’s cookbook lover’s paradise, Book Larder, is hosting creative director Claudia Wu and editorial director Kerry Diamond of Cherry Bombe magazine for an evening of great conversation and great food. Eater Seattle editor Sara Billups will be leading the conversation about the bi-annual magazine, which celebrates women and food. Renee Erickson will be making the snacks. $30 gets you a spot in the cozy store as well as a signed copy of Cherry Bombe.
Fremont Brewing at Chippy’s Fish and Drink
Ethan Stowell’s Ballard chip house will be hosting Fremont Brewing for an evening of fresh fried fish, the accompanying chips, and local beer. Fremont Brewing folks will be present to talk beer with all the beer nerds (and novices, too), and they’re rolling out a special surprise beer from their secret stock. Brews on tap will be Interurban India Pale Ale and Bonfire Ale for a mere $3 with food purchase. Beer specials run all night long with special dishes like fish fried in Fremont Pale Ale batter.
TUESDAY, JANUARY 13
Cider-Tasting Event at Bar Ferdinand
January is cider month at Matt Dillon’s Melrose Market wine bar and bottle shop. And the bar will be hosting Vashon Island’s Dragon’s Head Cider for a special tasting event. There will complimentary local ciders with snacks from the Sitka and Spruce kitchen, as well as conversation on the trending beverage and special bottle pricing. 5–7pm.
