South Seattle Community College hosted its annual Gifts from the Earth event featuring 15 celebrity chefs, including Ethan Stowell and SSCC alumnus Jeff Maxfield. Chefs prepared a unique meal for each table, and each course was accompanied by wine from participating wineries. Margaret Larson, of New Day Northwest, emceed the event, which raised $188,000 to support the college’s foundation. Funds from the evening support students via efforts such as the 13th Year Promise Scholarship, which guarantees that every graduate of two area high schools attend SSCC tuition-free for the first year.
