Countdown to Runway

IDRS Files #9: Tom Ordonio

He dressed the hottest local songstress, and he can probably tell you the history of the corset. This Seattle designer patches the past to the present with edge, glamor, and signature style.

Vaguely dark and a little dramatic, but wholly glamorous too, Tom Ordonio's self-titled ready-to-wear line seems to have exploded onto the local fashion scene. We recently spotted local songbird and Macklemore collaborator Hollis Wong-Wear blinged out in the Ordonio draped feather dress at the BMI Hip-Hop Awards. But it isn't just the Macklemore collaborator who's catching all the buzz....

Aberdeen has a knack for producing rock stars. Ordonio moved from the small town to Seattle for college, graduating from Ballard's New York Fashion Academy.Backed by an education of fashion history as well as design, he borrows ideas from the past, remolding glamor in a modern, wearable way.
