Confession: I'm struggling to pull myself away from Wanelo long enough to write about Wanelo.
And so, it seems, is everyone else—each of the site's ten million users, up from one million this time last year, spend an average of 50 minutes a day surfing the social shopping database.
Wanelo ('wah-nee-lo'), which stands for "Want, Need, Love," is an online shopping community where users can post images of products they like, organize them into collections, and share with other Wanelites (Wanelers?). It may sound a lot like Pinterest, but unlike that social site all items posted on Wanelo are available to purchase online. Most items are uploaded by the users themselves, and a "buy" button links back to the e-retailer where shoppers can place orders.
The site currently features purchasable items from over 200,000 stores around the world, including everything from independent Esty shops to big-name brands like Nordstrom.
Some of our favorite features include the ability to create stories, minicollections of up to nine items that look a lot like the fancy style collages from around the internet, but are much easier to create. We also dig the app's share feature, which allows users to post items, stories, and entire collections to other social sites like Facebook and Instagram, and even share via text message.
