Look Book: Target and Neiman Marcus Holiday Collection

Target and Neiman Marcus released the look book of their much-anticipated holiday collection. We're a little disappointed. Find out why and check out our slide show of the items we did love.

Target and Neiman Marcus just released the full look book of items from their holiday designer collaboration, in stores December 1. The collection brings together twenty-four American designers and features 50 gift items with prices ranging from $8 to $500, but most pieces hover at or below $60.

I really hate to say it, but I'm disappointed. Where's the jewelry? Where are the cool electronic items? Where are those Judith Leiber headphones I wanted? For the most part the collection doesn't feel very inspired or creative; these items don't feel special. Marc Jacobs just made a $70 version of his $375 zip pouch. Seriously?

The retailers also announced that they will be the sole sponsors of the finale episode NBC's television drama Revenge. Instead of commercials, there will be original content featuring the holiday collection. I'm sure they'll find some way to get a character to ride by on the Alice + Olivia bike wearing Brian Atwood sunglasses and toting the Tory Burch lunch box. (Really, someone tell me if this happens, I don't watch the show.) The whole thing has turned into this uberconsumer, product placement production that really gets under my skin.

Check out our slide show of the items we did love and see the full look book on the Neiman Marcus blog, then tell us what you think. Does the collection deserve a hallelujah or a lump of coal?
