Paying homage to Ballard’s Swedish roots and the country's August tradition of a crayfish feast, Old Ballard Liquor Company and its companion restaurant Tumble Swede will serve the little crustaceans at the recently revamped Seattle Maritime Academy Friday night starting at 7pm. The tradition might be Scandinavian, but the crayfish are all Seattle, caught just over in Lake Washington by fisherman Terje Kvinge. They’ll be served with wild fennel alongside dishes like cheese pie, summer salad, and boiled potatoes. And for dessert, elderflower ice cream with a stone fruit compote! Tickets are $75 and must be purchased today, with limited tickets available between now and Friday.

Stoup Brewing Yard Party

Before the weather turns foul, Stoup Brewing is kicking back with a yard party, during which they’ll take over the space next to their beer garden and bring in yet another bar (that makes four, mind you). Bands like Brawns, Silver Treason, Planet Fly, and Golden Idols promise lots of dancing or, at the least, some well-intentioned jumping around. Seattle Children’s Museum will also provide kid-friendly activities, so you can entertain your tot while also enjoying a beer. And you won’t go hungry either: Classics like meatball sandwiches will be provided by Wick Good Grinders; Raney’s Brothers will bring on the barbecue; and Beez Neez boasts kid-friendly hot dogs as well as gourmet sausages for more refined palates.

End of Summer Bash at Charles Smith Wines Jet City
Charles Smith Wines Jet City is counting down the end of summer with a bash full of wine, food trucks, a burlesque show, and live music. There will be an open tasting of 18 rieslings, as well as reds, whites, and rosés from K Vintners, CasaSmith Vino, and Substance available for purchase. Nacho Mama’s, the People’s Burger, and others will dole out the food, and if you’re worried that nachos and burgers don’t really go with wine, don’t fret, because Georgetown Brewing will be there as well. Indie rock band Calexico will open, followed by the Head and the Heart. Doors open at 4:30pm; tickets are available ahead of time for $45 or at the door for $55.

Banh Mi Fest
Friends of Little Saigon's annual Vietnamese festival is honoring the humble yet honorable baguette-based sandwich this year. Yes, banh mis will abound at this event in Chinatown–International District. Seek out such versions like a 12-hour sous vide pork belly croissant banh mi with cilantro kewpie aioli and a bounty of pickled vegetables. Beyond the titular sandwich, find other local offerings, among them: GoPoké, Macadons (macarons in flavors like Oreo, Thai tai, Fruity Pebbles, durian), and Raised Doughnuts. Plus, kid-friendly activities, an eating contest, and an outdoor beer garden.

World of Rosé Dinner at Lark
If you need even more wine, head over to Lark on Monday night at 6pm to switch out your riesling for a rosé. Alongside wine director Jennifer O’Neil, chef John Sundstrom will push the boundaries of traditional rosé pairings with dishes like salt cod brandade, pork tenderloin, and oxtail. The wine selections will be a surprise, but expect rosés from all around the world. The menu also includes fried eggplant accompanied by whipped feta and chiles, daurade (a small, buttery fish) with black olives, cherry tomatoes, and cucumber, and a plum upside down cake for dessert. Call Lark to reserve a spot.

Quarterly Chef's Dinner at Cafe Presse
After a summer of renovations, Cafe Presse will celebrate the end of pounding hammers with a chef’s dinner inspired by the city of Nice. Chef Jim Drohman will offer up a five-course family-style dinner for $80, and diners will be seated in the newly improved back room starting at 6:30pm on Tuesday. And for you pescatarians out there, this your night, as the menu features seafood, fruits, and vegetables—not a steak in sight! Starters include pissaladière, a pizza-like dish with onions, anchovies, and olives; a tartare of beets; as well as blue cheese/sweet corn beignets. Sardines will make an appearance, as will summer squashes stuffed with rice and a salad of tomatoes, nectarines, melon, and onions. Bon appétit!
