Dahlia Lounge somm and local wine raconteur Zach Geballe debuted his weekly wine tasting popup, Disgorged, last Tuesday night at Bite Box on Queen Anne Hill—and it happens again tomorrow night and Tuesdays thereafter, 4:30 to 9:30pm.

Geballe pours from among his favorites and tells their stories; these might include Two Mountain Winery’s Hidden Horse Red (“the red blend sometimes gets a bad rap, but when it’s done right it can be delicious,”) or Gilbert Cellars’ Grower White (“Sure a blend of Chardonnay and Riesling might be unconventional, but if it tastes this good, who’s to argue? One of the defining mantras of the Washington wine industry has been ‘Why not?’”)

Geballe wants to demystify wines and the rarefied world they come from, and that’s the spirit of Disgorged. “The goal is to offer a space for exploration and enjoyment, with as little pretension as possible,” he says. “The wine will be affordable, delicious, and plentiful, and the vibe will be as relaxed as I can manage.”
