The Pantry Annouces July Cooking Classes
The incredibly popular community kitchen in Ballard has announced another month of cooking classes, creamery tutorials, introductions to butchery, literal jam sessions, and more. While there are a couple not-yet-filled June classes, July still has openings for jam making, cheese making, beef butchery, and Filipino cookery, which are likely filling up as you read this. Rose Happy Hour At Marine Hardware
Ethan Stowell’s recently re-tuned space (formerly Chippy’s Fish and Drink) has launched a happy hour featuring our favorite warm weather wine. On Wednesdays and Sundays, from 5 to 6pm, Marine Hardware will have three roses on hand for $5 per glass, and it comes with a complimentary plate of salumi and olives.

Seattle Beer Week
Like a brewer’s night, but on steroids, this 10-day event is happening at your local pubs, bottle shops, taprooms, and restaurants across the city. This Thursday, the official opening ceremony of Seattle Beer Week is at Reuben’s Brews in Ballard and starts at 5pm. The party kicks off with the first keg tap of The Daily Pale, a session IPA by Reuben’s Brews and the official beer of Seattle Beer Week this year. After some raffles, prizes, and inaugural drinking, off to Brouwer’s Cafe, Beveridge Place Pub, The Pine Box, and Naked City Taphouse for a good old-fashioned bar crawl. International District Culinary Walking Tour
Pho Cyclo owner and Ethnic Business Coalition director Taylor Hoang is bringing back her popular International District food tour, walking attendees through the neighborhood’s grocers, bakers, tea shops, and dim sum and barbecue restaurants as she dispenses knowledge and plenty of bites. The three-hour tour kicks off at 10am at the Din How shopping center and runs $65 per person. Book your tickets here; Hoang’s doing another food tour on Saturday, May 21.

Annual Pierogi Fest At the Polish Cultural Center
Have an insatiable need for dumplings? Then you should probably head to Capitol Hill for some authentic Polish dumplings this Saturday from 11:30 to 4. The Annual Pierogi Fest will have a variety of dumplings including meat, potato and cheese, and plum; all are $10 for 10. There will also be more Polish fare along with Polish beer at the cultural center, as well as folk performances, music, and more.

UW Night Market
Night markets in Taiwan are a wonderland of brightly lit carnival-like booths selling anything from sneakers to freshly wokked noodles. In that spirit, the Taiwanese Student Association at the University of Washington presents their annual UW Night Market that celebrates this piece of Taiwanese culture through food, activities, and entertainment. The event starts at 5:30 and spans UW’s Red Square and flows into the cherry blossom–filled quad. Look for bites like fried chicken karaage, pork belly buns, Taiwanese desserts and drinks, and more.

Pizza Workshop For Kids At Big Mario's
Bring your little pizzaiolos in the making to Queen Anne for an introduction to pizza baking. At 11am, Big Mario's will teach kids ages 4 and up to toss and form dough, choose toppings, and bake their creations. Parents must stay throughout the workshop, but hey, that just means afternoon cocktails and snacks at the bar. Email Big Mario's to reserve a spot.
