The all-day cafe from the owners of Bottlehouse has the cure to a midweek slump. Pop in the Downtown cafe for $1.50 Hama Hama oysters and wash it down with a glass of bubbly prosecco for $6. This extended happy hour at Mr. West runs from 7 to 9.

Comicon Beer Night at The Pine Box
Thursday marks the beginning of the four-day Emerald City Comicon (ECCC) at the Washington State Convention Center. And just up the hill, The Pine Box is ready for lanyard-bedecked ‘con goers with Fremont Brewing’s Dark Heron IPA, which is the official beer of the ECCC. Of course, any of-age drinkers are welcome to the Comicon Beer Night which starts pouring the heroic brew at 6pm.

Mezcal Class is in Session at Mezcaleria Oaxaca
Start your week on Capitol Hill learning about this artisanal and agave-based spirit. Mezcaleria Oaxaca will have a mezcal class and tasting from 6 to 8 Monday evening, led by Danny Mena, co-owner of Mezcales de Leyenda and chef/owner of Hecho en Dumbo in NYC. Reserve your spot for the intimate class, which is $20 per person.

National Grilled Cheese Day
John Sundstrom’s Slab Sandwiches and Pie is honoring the classic all week with a diverse lineup of cheese-filled goodness. Another place to celebrate the downright patriotic day: the recently opened Melt, which serves up the dairy delight on the daily inside Bar Sue.

Ticket Alert: Food Lover’s Dinner at Juicebox Cafe
The immensely popular new book Bon Appétit: Food Lover’s Cleanse, written by Seattle’s own Sara Dickerman, inspires this upcoming dinner on April 21 at 6:30. Juicebox Cafe will host the four-course vegetarian dinner as well as the author herself for a night of seasonal food, wine, and stories from Dickerson. The evening’s menu includes a big butter lettuce and avocado salad, a ragout of artichokes, asparagus, and preserved lemon, and a raspberry and chocolate bark with toasted quinoa and amaranth for dessert. Reservations are, you guessed it, required; tickets are $80 and can be purchased through the Juicebox website.

In other oyster news, tickets went on sale this week for the annual subtidal event in Hood Canal. This year on May 7, from 11 to 4, Hama Hama Oysters will welcome the public to their tidal flats for a bivalve-filled beach party. You can come to tour the farm as well as pick your own oysters and clams, or, you know, slurp up shucked oysters and hang in the beer and wine garden. To each his own. There will also be kid’s activities, live music, and prizes as well as events within the Oyster Rama, some requiring a separate ticket, like an oyster tasting with Renee Erickson and Rowan Jacobsen, author of The Geography of Oysters. General admission tickets are $15.
