Chuckanut Brewery Dinner at Brave Horse Tavern
Chefs Brian Walcyk of Cantina Lena and Brian Dalbey of Brave Horse Tavern collaborate for a midweek Mexican-inspired beer dinner. The Bellingham-based Chuckanut Brewery has created a Mexican-style lager exclusive to Tom Douglas Restaurants and to celebrate Brave Horse Tavern is hosting a five-course dinner paired with Chuckanut brews. Dinner entails crispy pork belly chicharron with smoked clams, braised bone-in short rib rubbed with coffee and cumin, and more. Dinner begins at 6 and tickets are $85.

Annual Washington Beer Open House
This Saturday, eat a hearty brunch, then plan an afternoon of spirited beering about town at your local breweries, or better yet, take a daytrip. Over 100 breweries across the state, from Bellingham to Spokane, will have an open house, or taproom rather, from noon to 5. Each brewery’s offerings will vary but look forward to rare barrel tastings, new beer launches, seasonal releases, some savory food pairings, tours, and more. The Washington Beer Open House allows you to meet the innovative brewers behind your favorite beers, take sneak peeks of cellar tanks, and makes it acceptable to wear pretzel necklaces. Wins all around.

Kid’s Pizza Workshop at Ernest Loves Agnes
Though this Capitol Hill restaurant’s namesake was more a lover of whiskey than of pizza, a kids-oriented class on the latter is obviously the better choice. This kid’s pizza workshop will be the first of many held at Ernest Loves Agnes; this Sunday it runs from 2:30 to 4 and tickets are $10. Kids will meet chef Mac Jarvis, tour the kitchen, make pizza of course, and more. The workshop is recommended for children at least five years old, and—this may go without saying—parents must be present throughout the event. The good news: There’s cocktails and snacks aplenty at the bar, to which we say, have a bone-dry martini in Papa Hemingway’s honor. Email Ernest Loves Agnes to reserve a spot for your future pizzaiolo.

Oyster Fest at Vif
Frigid Februarys make for deliciously briny bivalves, so slurp some up at the light-filled cafe and wine bar on Fremont Ave this Sunday. From 2 to 5, Vif will be shucking local delicacies from Hama Hama Oysters and pouring crisp muscadet and more. Warm up with some chowder here as well, which is a necessity on a chilly, gray Sunday afternoon.

Eat Your Vegetables Dinner Series at Tallulah’s
With spring approaching—thanks, Punxsutawney Phil—the plant-based popup series celebrates healthy and delicious food made with fresh, seasonal vegetables. First to pop up is Juicebox owner, chef, and all-around veggie whisperer, Kari Brunson. Tallulah’s and Brunson have planned a three-course meal plus cocktails made with vibrant Juicebox juices. There will also be dessert from Brunson and Hot Cakes’ Autumn Martin’s forthcoming dairy-free ice cream shop, Frankie and Jo’s. Reservations are required for this three-course meal.
