WEDNESDAY, MARCH 4
Girl Scout Cookies Are Back
Technically this year's batch of Samoas, Tagalongs, and Thin Mints hit the street late last week. But scouts will be out in force doing business through March 15. If you somehow don't stumble upon any eager saleswomen, the Girls Scouts of Western Washington website has info on locations and the cookie lineup. (PS: Happy 40th birthday, Samoas.)
Capitol Cider Unplugged
The Capitol Hill cider bar and bastion of gluten-free bar food has a new Wednesday-night acoustic music series, selected by the staff music curator and accompanied by a cocktail that riffs on that night's particular artist. The first show is Tobias the Owl and Wren, followed on subsequent Wednesdays by the likes of Gabriel Wolfchild, Susan Galbraith, and Faint Peter. Music starts at 8pm in Capitol Cider's downstairs area (21-plus only).
THURSDAY, MARCH 5
Kitamura v. Flay
Eastlake sushi phenom Taichi Kitamura is on the Food Network show Beat Bobby Flay airing this evening. He's not, in fact, trying to beat Bobby Flay, but rather vying against chef David deCastro (not the Pittsburgh Steelers player) for the right to do culinary battle against Bobby Flay. Got that? Kitamura's hosting a vewing party at Tini Bigs from 9 to 10:30. Be a good guest and RSVP if you'd like to attend; there's talk of karaoke next door at Hula Hula after the show.
FRIDAY, MARCH 6
Free Fry Fridays Return at Pike Street Fish Fry
This hole-in-the-wall with superlative frying abilities are once again handing out free orders of french fries on the first Friday of each month. Free-fry Fridays were on hiatus since December 2013, but the deal remains the same: Buy a drink, get some fries gratis. Oh, and hey...there are drink specials too. Brace yourself for mayhem.
BottleNeck Lounge Turns 8
A Friday-night happy hour? That is cause for celebration. Also: Erin Nestor's house of perpetual merriment marks eight years on Madison. A special happy hour runs from 4pm to 8pm, and a brand new lineup of cocktails run $8 a pop until midnight. If you go, bug her for more details about Two Doors Down, the new bar she's opening, uh, two doors down.
SATURDAY, MARCH 7
Bellevue Bourbon Bash at Daniel's Broiler
More than 100 bourbons will congregate (yes, including some ultracoveted Pappy Van Winkle) at Daniel's Broiler in Bellevue, along with distillers and brand reps primed to answer questions and talk you through each tasting. Heavy appetizers will sustain all this bourbon drinking. Buy your $100 tickets on the Daniel's Broiler website.
