Finally, the season matches the beer.

Tray Kitchen. This Ballard newcomer will employ dim-sum-style service for a decidedly not-dim-sum-style menu. Servers will push red carts arrayed with small seasonal plates—no dumplings or egg tarts here. If you like what you see, just summon it off the cart and eat it.

Nate’s Wings and Waffles. Nate Robinson dominated on both the basketball court and the football field. Now the Rainier Beach High School and UW star (and nine-year NBA player) is adding fried chicken and waffles to his resume, partnering with the owner of the Happy Grillmore food truck to open a casual, family-friendly spot close to where he grew up.

Pumpkin Beer. Finally it’s the actual season for pumpkin-flavored things. Never mind the fact that these brews have been on the shelves since August

A Boatload of Restaurant Openings.
Some of the year’s most anticipated new arrivals have converged upon October: John Sundstrom’s trio of establishments, Tom Douglas’s cantina, Hommage (nee Book Bindery), Bellevue’s bedecked Tavern Hall, Manolin seafood bar in Wallingford. Clear the calendar and do a little preemptive cardio.

Single Shot. In 2013 we named James Sherrill a chef to watch, hence our excitement about his upcoming joint on Capitol Hill, a bar for people who like to eat. He’s taking a pass on the usual fried food and elaborate burger in favor of plates like a caramelized onion tart with chanterelles and smoked duck ham.
