Airways Brewing Serves Up Another Seasonal Stout

The world didn't end... so coconuts!

Maylani’s Coconut Stout from Airways Brewing Company, in stores October 15

When last we checked in with the Airways Brewing Company—exactly a year ago today—the End Times were nigh and the Kent beer purveyors were slinging a decidedly morbid brew. Final Destination Imperial Stout, its first bottled beer, was a wink at the Mayan calendar and its supposed foretelling of worldwide calamity. The label featured a doomed airplane parked on a tarmac and a menacing storm front seemingly jerked to life by the power of Grayskull. The stout’s 9.9 percent ABV was pretty much a nuclear annihilation of your brain cells.

A year later the world is still spinning and Airways Brewing has gone less Grim Reap-y, offering its popular seasonal Maylani’s Coconut Stout in cans for the first time. Starting Thursday, October 10, you can score four-packs of the 16-ounce cans at Airways Brewery and Taproom and Airways Beer and Bistro. And starting Tuesday, October 15, you can find the four-packs in beer aisles everywhere. Airways’ two locations will also have the stout on tap.

The dark-colored beer, made in part from cocoa nibs and toasted coconut, clocks in at a mellow 5.3 percent ABV. But like Final Destination before it, Coconut Stout is not long for this world. It will only be available until April 2014.
