The Icy

Boka Restaurant and Bar Technically the grownup Popsicle served at the bar is frozen mixer and garnish, say a peach puree with blueberries, lime juice, and simple syrup. But when you dunk it in a companionable splash of blueberry-and-orange-infused vodka, some enjoyable melting and mixing happens. 1010 First Ave, Downtown, 206-357-9000; bokaseattle.com 

Marination Ma Kai Fine, the Hawaiian-style shave ice is more of a -softball-size ice mound than a drink. But a fun slush of ice and flavor does gather at the bottom of the bowl if you give it a few minutes. The Slushy

Artusi  No temple to Italian culinary traditions and sophisticated aperitivi is complete without a slushy machine whipping up concoctions inspired by drag queen Jinkx Monsoon. Bait Shop  Rain or shine, people are sucking down massive quantities of the rum-and-coconut Painkillers from the slushy machine behind the bar. TanakaSan  T-Doug partner Eric Tanaka envisioned frozen-sake juice boxes. Beverage director Adam Chumas wanted a slushy machine. The compromise: freezy slushies of Ozeki sake, lemon, and simple syrup. The Creamy

Americana  Traditional desserts inspire adult ice cream parlor versions, like the chocolate brownie shake with port that approximates red velvet cake, or a take on the banana split that involves whipped cream vodka and banana liqueur. Hot Cakes Molten Chocolate Cakery  Some of chocolatier Autumn Martin’s best-known milk shakes—a peanut butter, caramel, and whiskey combo, or smoked chocolate with insanely peat-smoky Laphroaig scotch—beg for tweed blazers with elbow patches. The Lucky Diner Cherry puree and chardonnay? Dos Equis and lime juice? Sangria? This Belltown diner isn’t afraid to take risks with its adult milk shake concoctions. Lunchbox Laboratory  Since that out-of-control-huge burger is bound to bring on a food coma anyway, consider chasing it with an equally decadent milk shake, which arrives with a neon-colored test tube (get it?) of liquor for your mixing pleasure. Skillet Diner Alcoholic milk shakes have their own slowly expanding menu section here, and the drink that started it all is the Colonel Parker—a layering of vanilla ice cream, peanut butter, housemade brown sugar syrup, and, added at the very last minute, a shot of Jack Daniels.
