The doughnut chain is taking over a storied property near the transit center. And again, there's a drive-thru.

News of another Top Pot is always welcome. But news of Top Pot opening a drive-thru? This is exciting.

Cofounder Mark Klebeck says for his latest outpost he's taking the brand in a new direction, so to speak. The cafe at 12th Avenue Northwest and Northwest Maple Street will mark the doughnut chain's first in Issaquah, and also its first equipped to cater to on-the-go eaters.

The round property dates from the 1960s and has housed several burger joints, a cafe, a Mexican eatery, and most recently Mondo's, another coffee shop. The building's vintage feel should suit the Top Pot aesthetic, but no doubt the drive-thru, which will be in operation seven days a week, helped to seal the deal here.

Klebeck expects the cafe, the most recent addition in a vigorous expansion campaign, will open in late February.
