The Blur Ball: A Big MurrayAid Milestone Happens Sunday

Fundraisers are still happening around the globe, but Sunday marks the biggest, most elaborate of them all. And tickets are just $35.

Sunday night's ball is aimed at putting this man back in action.

The march for MurrayAid continues, with upcoming events in Los Angeles, Portland, Paris, Nashville, and Melbourne. Fundraisers continue to flourish here in Seattle, but the undisputed biggie is Sunday night’s Blur Ball. This orgy of food, drink, and auction action happens at Batch 206 Distillery (7pm to 1am). If you feel the urge to break out some cocktail attire, rumblings on Facebook suggest you won’t be alone.

Tickets are $35, and a host of esteemed local bartenders are pairing up with distilleries from around the state to ply attendees with excellent drinks. All (aka 100 percent) of the money raised this evening goes to Stenson. A not-so-silent auction is sure to be tilted towards food and boozy items (I’ve heard talk of a 90-minute Champagne sunset cruise, dinner for eight at your house courtesy of Hitchcock chef Brendan McGill, and a guided pub crawl to all of Tom Douglas’s restaurants).

Since word got out that barman Murray Stenson needs heart surgery, more than $133,000 in contributions has flowed in from around the globe. Evan Wallace, Stenson’s longtime friend who is handling the funds, says that doesn’t include moneys currently in transit from a half-dozen recent events. Wallace says his friend is “still trying to get some finality” from doctors on his specific procedure and how much it might cost. Meanwhile, the Blur Ball is shaping up to be quite the epic event, and a ridiculous value to boot. Get your tickets right over here.
