AUTUMN BRINGS THE last gasp of visiting season, and—if we’re lucky—the heartbreak of Indian summer. All of which draw us to the hearths of the cozy urban salons we call our hotel restaurants. A few making news:


Chef Kerry Sear has improved the menu at the new Four Seasons Hotel—lowered prices, ditched the precious paintbrushes—but the real verve lives in its lounge, where high rollers gather after work for dazzling cocktails and $5 mini-burgers. 99 Union St, Downtown, 206-749-7070;

The Hunt Club

The chef is new (Matthew Mina won a Top Chef–like competition to wear the big toque at the Sorrento Hotel), and has spun the menu in a more meat-heavy Northwest direction. No place in town feels more autumnal. 900 Madison St, First Hill, 206-343-6156;

Stir Martini and Raw Bar

Chef Dan Thiessen (0/8 Seafood Grill and Twisted Cork Wine Bar) has planted another flag in the revamped Bellevue Hyatt, with a seafood focus, plenty of mixology, and an outdoor patio. It opened last month off the Wintergarden lobby. 10500 NE Eighth St, Bellevue, 425-646-7847;

Front Porch at the Heathman

So popular is the sidewalk patio for Trellis at the Kirkland Heathman, the good folks who run the place turned it into its own restaurant. Front Porch, open till the weather starts turning next month, features a menu of notably unusual small plates—snails Bourgogne, pig’s ears with Dijon—and live music. The swank white room at the new Hyatt at Olive 8 features green attitude, a comforty list (plenty of veggie sides and Beecher’s mac and cheese), and a welcome dose of happy hour in the one remaining corner of downtown that didn’t have one. 1635 Eighth Ave, Downtown, 206-676-4600;
