Openings, closings, and other foodie bites—here’s a round up of what’s going on in the food world:
•Seattle’s ice cream obsession keeps on growing. Parfait Ice Cream started its second week serving up organic, homemade flavors. The truck parks it at Galer and 3rd on Friday afternoons and on NW 85th St and 32nd Ave NW Saturdays. [ SW ]
•Hillside Quickie Vegan Café owner Makini Howell plans to open Plum Vegan Bistro Saturday, July 25. The 100 % vegan and organic restaurant will replace Café Stellina in the Pike-Pine triangle and will stock a full bar. [ CHS ]
•West Seattle restaurant Ama Ama will close this week. [ ST ]
•The owners of GreenGo Foods announced they are putting their small Ballard restaurant up for sale, ironically not due to lack of business, but because they are burnt out. [ MB ]
•Family-owned, brand new Rizzo’s French Dip, a specialty sandwich shop in Ballard, is expanding its menu. [ SW ]
•Bar maven Linda Derschang is upset with Starbucks for allegedly copying the signature design of her establishments. [ P.I. ]
•To celebrate its new Capitol Hill location Cupcake Royale will give out free Strawberry 66 babycakes to anyone who says “Legalize Frostitution” at the grand opening Wednesday.
