Best Restroom in America

Canlis made the Top Ten!

By Kathryn Robinson June 26, 2009

And in other news…the women’s bathroom at Canlis has been nominated for America’s Best Restroom.

If you’ve had the pleasure of going here, you’ve probably already noticed its distinctly Zen appeal. You may not have noticed its meticulous design, however. Kohler San Martine Lite Peacekeeper toilets. Authentic Japanese prints on satine paper, inside the stalls. Dave Stusser original stall doors.

Seattle interior designer Doug Rasar installed handmade organic wall coverings to compliment the elegant David Pfeiffer garden that you see through large picture windows when washing your hands.

If you need a moment to compose yourself before returning to your table, you can make yourself comfortable on the Donghia Chaise. And while lounging there, go ahead: check out the hand-carved granite millstone floor.

Feeling, ahem, moved? Vote for Canlis’s john here, before July 31. “What can I say,” says Mark Canlis, third-generation owner of the Seattle institution. “It’s where Seattle goes.”
