Nosh Pit Weekly Planner: February 4–10

Because oysters with whisky is a great thing. Image via Percy's
If we’re done ugly crying into our prematurely opened box of Valentine’s chocolates now over our beloved Seahawks, there are plenty of epicurean events this week to keep spirits up. In fact, it seems this week features all sorts of spirits and booze to keep Seattle tipsy 'til Valentine's Day.
WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 4
Aww Shuck It! At Percy’s
If you missed the first Shuck It! Wednesday at Percy’s in Ballard, then you’re in luck. From 4–8pm you can get $1 oysters and $6 shots of Jameson. Though it’s likely most Pacific Northwesterners can live off bivalves and Irish whisky, there’s also happy hour from 4–6pm daily that offers cheap eats from $4–$9 and great specials on other libations such half-off bottles of wine.
FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 6
Washington Hop Mob Triple IPA Roadshow: a Series of Beer Events
This traveling beer festival of sorts features over 30 Washington breweries that have all produced special batches of the exceptionally hoppy triple IPA. The second annual Hop Mob kicks off at Brouwer’s Cafe this Friday at 3pm and will have 6- and 12-ounce pours of over 30 triple IPAs available as well as flights of your choice of three beers. Washington Hop Mob Roadshow has the full list of events at which a dozen or so beers will be on tap at various breweries. The Hop Mob Finale, similar to the kickoff in that all triple IPAs will be available, will be held at Pike Brewing on Saturday, February 21 at 5pm. Tickets for this final event are $18.
SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 8
Beer Plus Chocolate Equals Pike Brewery ChocoFest
Going seven years strong, this event was made for pre-funking Valentine’s Day. To counterbalance the abundance of chocolate, beer, and chocolate infused beer there will be 80 different breweries, distilleries, and restaurants serving wine, cider, artisan cheese, desserts, and oysters on the half shell. The event runs from 6–9pm Sunday evening on all three levels of the Pike Brewery building at Pike Place Market. Tickets are $50.
Speed Rack: Competitive Bartending at Century Ballroom
The titular (sorry) cocktail competition tests the speed and accuracy of lady barkeeps of Seattle all while raising funds for breast cancer research. Booze and philanthropy? The ideal way to spend the holy day has arrived. Tickets to Sunday’s event are $20–$25 and include cocktails, snacks, and warm fuzzy feelings.
Celebrated Women of Food and Wine
How a Sunday should be spent: eating appetizers, drinking wine, and a pressing your face against the 75th floor window of Columbia Tower. Oh, and of course hobnobbing with some of Seattle's notable women in the local food and wine industries. A collaboration of Seattle Uncorked and the laudable Women’s Funding Alliance brings an afternoon of food drinks from 2–5pm for just $50 ($90 for two).
TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 10
Badass Women Winemakers at Bar Ferd’nand
Throughout the month of February, Matt Dillon’s Melrose Market wine bar is showing love to women of wine who are unmistakably badass women. First up: Kelley Fox of Kelley Fox Wines in Oregon will be present at this special tasting from 5–7pm. Learn about Fox’s biodynamic Oregon Pinot Noirs, celebrated as some of the country’s best in the last ten years. To reiterate the level of badass-ness these women exhibit is this event poster involving Tina Turner.
