Sitka and Spruce Hosts San Francisco’s Bar Tartine
Like Thelma and Louise, Leslie Knope and waffles, Academy Awards and socially conscious acceptance speeches, this event appropriately marries cookbooks and, well, food. This author dinner hosted by Sitka and Spruce with Book Larder will welcome Nick Balla and Cortney Burns of Bar Tartine, sibling restaurant to Tartine Bakery. Beginning at 7pm in Melrose Market’s Sitka and Spruce, there will be appetizers and cocktails upon arrival, then a three-course meal (with wine!) inspired by Bar Tartine. Take home a copy of Bar Tartine that is signed by Balla and Burns and included with the event. Tickets are $150 and available through Book Larder.
FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 27
Sip and Smoke: A Whiskey Tasting
For a Friday evening likened to a scene from Mad Men, chef John Howie will be hosting this whiskey-and-cigar-focused event at Sport Restaurant in Lower Queen Anne. Instead of Draper’s three fingers of Canadian Club, this tasting features local whiskies from 2 Bar Spirits, Woodinville Whiskey, Westland Distillery, and more. Naturally chef Howie’s personally blended whiskey from Woodford Reserve will be in rotation. And for reasons of digestive fortitude, there will be some paired bites with each tasting. Tickets are $100 per person and include a stogie from Rain City Cigars and an etched whiskey glass.
Girl Scout Cookies Sale Starts
Everyone's coveted treat-slash-guilty-pleasure is back this Friday through March 15. They're offering eight different cookies including thin mints, tagalongs, samoas, do-si-dos, and more at $4 a box. These allergy and trend conscious entrepreneurs even have a gluten-free version of their toffee-tastic cookie for $5.
