Seattle City Club's annual benefit luncheon this year celebrates the civic activism of Martha Kongsgard, winner of the 2014 Nancy Nordhoff Civic Leadership Award.

Kongsgard, whose work with the Kongsgard-Goldman Foundation, Washington Women's Foundation, and the UW College of the Environment helped her become chair of the Leadership Council of Puget Sound Partnership and co-chair of the Puget Sound Institute, will recieve the award before a speech from Larry Kramer.

Kramer, formerly the dean of Stanford Law School, has been President of the William and Flora Hewlett Foundation since 2012. Kramer will speak about the Foundation's current effort to mitigate political polarization across the country.

Seattle Tilth's first Farm Fling fundraising dinner will take place at Rainier Beach Urban Farm on Friday the 27th. The farm formerly known as Atlantic City Nursery is currently in the early stages of becoming a full-fledged urban agricultural haven, and just needs and extra dose of cash to fully bloom. 

To raise the money, volunteers will serve a hot meal within the beautiful grounds of the Farm, an experience the organizers hope will inspire a love of urban farms, and, if they play their cards right, urban farmers.
