The rugged outdoor clothier has just opened up shop in Ballard. As of August 19, Patagonia's second Seattle location has arrived at 5443 Ballard Avenue Northwest in the historic Princess Hotel building.

Unlike the Downtown outpost, Patagonia Ballard is a flagship location—the first anywhere—for the company's Workwear line, a new collection, or technically "category" in retail speak, of sturdy duds made with farmers, builders, ranchers, foresters, and—hell yes—oyster haulers in mind. The workwear, constructed with a blend of industrial hemp, recycled polyester, and organic cotton, comes in both men's and women's styles. But it's not all canvas double-knee pants, there's still Patagonia's steadfast rain gear and warm layering pieces too.

Indeed, it's not even all clothes and gear. Here, the company's food and drink spinoff, Patagonia Provisions, will have a major presence. There will be weekend tastings of its array of goods, from grains to soups to its Oregon-brewed Long Root ale, which is always on tap during events.

The buildout uncovered and restored the original 1905 floor and brick walls, so to acknowledge all of that history everything is either reclaimed, salvaged, or vintage.

Patagonia Ballard will host events that focuses on work-specific topics and regenerative agriculture. For their upcoming event updates, keep tabs on Instagram @patagoniaballard. And stay tuned for a grand opening shindig with food, beer, and live music in September.
