WHERE: 616 Olive Way, Downtown Seattle
WHAT: Designer retailer Baby and Company gears up for its seventh annual closet sale. Like any good Seattleite, it's focused on recycling.
Baby and Company started the sale in 2008 amid growing concern about clothing waste. To minimize the amount of clothing the average American throws away in a year (68 pounds!) and aid its clients' desire to declutter their wardrobes, the closet sale came into being.
The event encourages people to reuse clothing by offering lightly-used pieces. Brands include high-end labels Opening Ceremony, Isabel Marant, Christian Louboutin, and more.
While getting a discounted Diane Von Furstenberg wrap dress is great, knowing that some of the proceeds go to charity is awesome. Ten percent of all purchases from the sale are donated to the Mockingbird Society, which focuses on ending youth homelessness.
WHEN: The sale is August 13–16 from 10am till 6pm and Sunday from noon till 5pm.
