Start scouring your closets for that see-and-be-seen ensemble, everyone. Seattle's most big-time/big-name fashion show is on the calendar for Thursday, July 23.
While our city is rich with opportunity to watch local talent on the catwalk (just wait ’til you see the IDRS lineup this year), the Nordstrom Designer Preview show brings the likes of Chloe, Dries Van Noten, Valentino, and Gucci to Pier 91 in Magnolia for a superb annual production.
Granted, you'll pay for the pleasure of such designer company (tickets start at $250 per person)—but there's the added bonus that proceeds help fund the Seattle Art Museum's upcoming Intimate Impressionism from the National Gallery of Art exhibit, on view October 1 of this year through January 10, 2016.The show has a history of taking on SAM's latest offering as a theme, so we're expecting dreamy Manet-esque backdrops, van Gogh–inspired sunflowers, a Degas ballet scene or two.
Other incentives: cocktails, appetizers, desserts, and valet parking are all included.
Spanish DJ Javier Peral is on the tunes, and the event will be introduced by visiting Vogue magazine editor Alexandra Michler, who's rolling in with bloggers Blair Eadie of Atlantic-Pacific, Wendy Nguyen of Wendy’s Lookbook, and Cara Loren of her namesake blog.
As in the past, there will be plenty of opportunity to shop both before and after the main event, including a post-show extravaganza (and my favorite people-watching moment of the evening) where you can pre-order—or just lust over—many of the runway looks.
A warning if you've gotten to the end of this post without purchasing tickets: This event always sells out. And if you miss the mark, or are more of a remote attendee, stay tuned here and on my Instagram for a day-of, behind-the-scenes look at the show, and then some.
