WHAT: It's your chance to learn from a true pro. Seattle wardrobe designer and artist, Mark Mitchell (of Burial fame) will host a series of one-day hand-sewing workshops that teach techniques from beginning hand sewing, to intermediate skills, wardrobe maintenance, and beads and embellishments.

The classes are for anyone, really.Mitchell provides nonjudgemental and fun atmosphere. He hopes that along with the more practical learning aspects, attendees find the experience to be creative, inspiring, and meditative. "I’ve had great responses from the new classes, taken by artists of various disciplines as well as home-sewers and designers," he told us, "and I love to teach. I get a lot of energy out of it."

WHEN: There are 16 of the workshops between January 10 and April 26. Classes last from 11 to 4, with an hour break for lunch (Mitchell will bring a Bundt cake). The cost is $110, which includes most materials; email [email protected] to secure a reservation. Check the schedule for specific dates and workshop focuses.
