Trunk Show: Frank and Lu at Baby and Co.

Get the little ones back to (sch)cool with fun, directional mini style from an NYC-based Seattle native on Friday, August 29.

Seattle native and Roosevelt High grad Michael Jarvela has sartorially sophisticated kids. They're, you know, into their look. So, naturally, the now NYC-based Jarvela (sartorially sophisticated himself), took his experience as a designer and exec at Ralph Lauren, J Crew, and Gap, and miniaturized it.

The resulting line, Frank and Lu, is all about a relaxed, urban aesthetic crossed with durable, kid-friendly materials. Skinny jeans and cool knits for rag-tag second graders and leather jackets for tough tomboys. And that type of thing.

It's the kind of stuff you'd see on the offspring of a Baby and Co. shopper, which is why the Belltown shop is hosting a trunk show on Friday, August 23 from 11 to 4. (They're also natural hosts because co-owner Wayne Donnelly and Jarvela are close friends.)

Back to school shopping? Stop by on Friday to get a jump on the 2013-2014 vibe, meet the designer, and his kids—the line's namesakes. Extra bonus: the Donnellys have recently flipped the store from summer to fall, so mom and dad are all set for new looks, too.
