Nail Color of the Month: Ciaté Velvet Manicure

Wondering how to get your hands on one of fall's most luscious texture trends without going all-out crushed velvet pant suit? British polish company Ciaté is putting the soft, strokable material right at your fingertips, literally. We tried out their velvet manicure set to kick off our favorite fall nail colors. Here's what we found:
The color is surprisingly easy to apply. Paint on a first coat, then nail-by-nail add a second layer and tap a heaping amount of crushed velvet powder on to the polish while it's still wet. Brush off the excess into the plastic tray with the provided "little black brush," and voilà!—you're left with velvety soft, luxuriously textured nails.
The downside? This manicure loses its luster somewhat quickly. We applied the polish before bed one night and by the next afternoon—after a shower, work, yoga class, hand-washing, etc.—some of the velvet had rubbed off, leaving small patches. So while we definitely suggest this mani for a dazzling night on the town, don't expect it to last you through the work week. On the bright side, the kit comes with enough velvet powder for several applications.
Ciaté's velvet manicure kit comes in three shades: berry poncho, blue suede, and mink cashmere. Get these texturally touchable nails at Sephora and Nordstrom stores for $19.
