Luly Yang Sample Sale

Seattle’s homegrown wedding dress designer makes couture more accessible.

By Amanda Austin June 20, 2012

The hot air ballon dress from Luly Yang’s 2008 Dreams Take Flight collection is on sale as of this Saturday. We’re wondering who’s going to catch it.

WHERE: Luly Yang Couture

WHAT: Tons of one-of-a-kind and special-order dresses inside that Fourth Ave Tiffany blue-showroom are about to go on sale. Find gowns worthy of a walk down the aisle as well as mother-of-the-bride and maid dresses; special order pieces in a range of sizes from 2 to 12 will be marked 30 percent off while creme de la creme couture pieces will all be marked down 70 percent.

We got to preview the sale before it goes live this Saturday and were delighted to see that some of the most memorable, conceptual pieces from Yang’s recent runway shows were on special.

For example: the pale blue strapless dress with a tufted balloon skirt that turns into a hot-air balloon (in your imagination, that is) from 2008’s Dreams Take Flight collection. From other collections: Enzoani’s short blush and coral cascading chiffon mini dress with a swirling rose appliqué. See also: A ruby red suit jacket with fur cuffs and an on-trend peplum waist.

Among the collection of stunning bridal gowns on offer, all the latest trends were represented: cap sleeves, lace accents, empire waists, pearl appliques, and architectural details paired with looser, romantic flourishes.

Couture is typically a five-month process, but handmade dresses could be yours off the rack in a matter of minutes, for a fraction of regular ticket prices.

WHEN: The sale begins this Saturday, June 23 and will end July 31.
