Delta Dental of Washington is on a mission to eliminate cavities, so people can enjoy good oral and overall health. As the state’s leading – and only not-for-profit – dental benefits provider, Delta Dental established Arcora Foundation, with a dedicated focus on increasing health equity by preventing oral disease and expanding access to care in underserved communities across Washington. It’s that commitment to community which keeps Delta Dental and Arcora Foundation traveling the state with education and outreach programs – working to increase the number of kids who regularly visit the dentist and decrease the incidence of dental disease.
Helping ensure no one is left behind, Arcora Foundation’s SmileMobile – a brightly painted dental clinic on wheels – rolls into towns providing dental exams and treatment for children (babies through high school age) and pregnant/postpartum people with Apple Health or uninsured. With volunteer support from local dentists and hygienists, the SmileMobile has served more than 45,000 patients and counting.
Delta Dental also joined forces with the Tooth Fairy to create The Tooth Fairy Experience. This free statewide program teaches kids how to keep young smiles healthy, and sets them on a path for a lifetime of good oral health. In addition to public presentations, the program offers teachers free downloadable materials (lesson plans, videos and worksheets) which are dentist-reviewed, kid-tested and endorsed by the School Nurses Organization of Washington.
By improving access to care and providing dental education and resources to communities across the state, we’re working together to create
a cavity-free Washington.
