Embattled Democratic Snohomish County Executive Aaron Reardon announced this morning that he's resigning effective at the end of May.

Reardon survived a sex scandal last year involving allegations that he used public money to conduct an extramarital affair; we had the gross details in that unwieldy story—which ultimately found no wrongdoing by Reardon—of what exactly was in the "intimacy kit" that showed up on one of his hotel bills.

The latest story, however, proved too much.

The Everett Herald reported last week that Reardon staff was harassing Reardon's political opponents, in an online, and Z-grade version of 1970s era Nixon style pranks.
