Afternoon Fizz: Reardon "Flattered" By Gov Race Rumors, Won't Deny Them
An attendee at a fundraiser for Snohomish County Executive Aaron Reardon this week (Democrat Reardon is running for reelection) says Reardon said he is considering jumping into the governor's race early next year.
Currently, the 2012 governor's race only has two contenders, US Rep. Jay Inslee (D-WA, 1) on the Democratic side (he's already been endorsed by the Washington State Democrats) and Washington State Attorney General Rob McKenna on the Republican side.
Reardon would not confirm or deny the rumor, telling PubliCola he's "flattered that my name keeps coming up, but all I'm thinking about right now is continuing the work we're doing to bring jobs to Snohomish County."
Reardon playfully told me we'd be the first to know if he had anything to announce about the governor's race.
Reardon, also head of the Sound Transit Board, is facing a challenge from Seattle police officer and Republican state Rep. Mike Hope in the county executive race.
