TNT again: "Boy who miraculously survived 15 minutes underwater is back at his Spanaway home"
No. It's not a miracle. It's science. Specifically, the science behind the Jet-Skis that propelled the rescue swimmers who rescued him, the CPR medics performed on him before he was airlifted to the hospital, the fully equipped Medivac helicopters that air-lifted him to the hospital, and the top-level emergency trauma care he received at OHSU Doernbecher Children’s Hospital in Portland.
Look, I'm glad the boy was saved. But unless the ocean actually parted to allow him to walk safely to land, or dolphins propelled him to safety on their backs, let's call this what it is: A triumph of science and the American health-care system. Not a miracle.
