New Business PAC Will Support KC Transit Fee

By Erica C. Barnett June 8, 2011

The Civic Alliance for a Sound Economy (CASE)---the new PAC formed out of the ashes of the Greater Seattle Chamber of Commerce's Alki Foundation, which has formally dissolved, as PubliCola reported yesterday---will support a $20 vehicle license fee to pay for transit in King County, the PI.com reports.
[Chamber communications VP George] Allen said CASE supports the new license fee, saying businesses would be hurt if employees and customers can’t get to businesses because bus routes are cut. He said the group will make that issue a primary one in grading County Council candidates and incumbents.

The license fee must be approved either by two thirds the King County Council, or by a majority of King County residents.

Unlike the Alki Foundation, which was limited to making candidate "recommendations," the new organization will endorse candidates and make campaign contributions in local races, including the upcoming city council and King County Council races.
