Last Chance to Opt Out of Phone Books
Today's the last day to sign up on the city's new phone-book opt-out registry if you don't want to receive Yellow Pages from Qwest, the Seattle area's largest phone-book company. Dex publishes its yellow pages book in June.
Last year, the city council unanimously passed council member Mike O'Brien's proposal to create the opt-out registry, the first of its kind in the nation. Several phone-book companies subsequently sued the city , arguing that the law violated their First Amendment right to free speech. Last week, a federal district judge ruled against the companies' request to summarily dismiss the city law.
You can also opt out of other phone books at the city-run registry, including Dex white pages, the Greater Seattle Yellow Book, and Seattle Superpages.
