City council member Tim Burgess---frequently mentioned as a candidate for mayor in 2013---will get a practice run all next week, when Mayor Mike McGinn is out of town for the US Conference of Mayors in Washington, D.C. and Burgess steps in as Mayor Pro Tem.

No word yet on whether Burgess has any big plans for his week as mayor (signing those tunnel agreements?), but McGinn spokesman Aaron Pickus says the mayor's office has some expectations: "When [council member Jean] Godden was mayor, she brought us cupcakes," he says.
