WITH APOLOGIES TO Edgar Martinez, the Mariners could be waiting in the Cooperstown on-deck circle for years. Seattle is one of only three teams founded before 1980 without a player in the Major League Baseball Hall of Fame, and despite what Edgar’s fans think, he’s likely to strike out for the second straight year this January when the 2011 class of inductees is announced.
