Afternoon Jolt: Quote of the Day

By Afternoon Jolt October 21, 2010

Rather than our daily winner and loser we're going with a quote for today's Jolt.

It comes to us from the Suncadia Resort in Cle Elum, where the Greater Seattle Chamber of Commerce is holding its annual retreat. At the end of today's session, everyone broke into small groups to brainstorm on "Nurturing our strengths."

One group, led by Skip Kotkins, the incoming chair of the chamber, starred Seattle City Council Member Richard Conlin, who was reportedly quite active in the discussion. At the end of the brainstorm, Kotkins asked Conlin to sing the group's work because, "We all know Conlin's signature is gold."

Conlin's reply: "Where's the pen?"

As we've said before—when the signature stuff (Conlin famously signed off on the deep-bore tunnel when McGinn refused to do so) first blew up—Conlin's stock skyrocketed with a business community that's eager to donate to an anti-McGinn candidate for mayor.

By the way, whatever happened to that constitutional crisis McGinn was so convinced about.
