Afternoon Jolt: Reichert

By Afternoon Jolt September 13, 2010

Winner: U.S. Rep. Dave Reichert.

Congressman Dave Reichert is Miss Teen South Carolina 2010.

The DelBene campaign has a news release hitting Reichert for talking in circles to King 5's Robert Mak on the financial reform bill. Reichert "ums" and "uhs" a lot.

Usually it seems a little unfair to publish transcripts—everybody ums and uhs, (especially a candidate that just, uh, finished having brain surgery.
) But Reichert was having a straight-up Miss Teen "I personally believe that some U.S. Americans are unable to do so because some people in our nation don't have maps!" 2007 South Carolina moment.

Reichert wandered through an answer
—"So what I, what I oppose in this around financial, uh, issue, uh, is, regulations, is that, uhm, I don’t want to see uh"— about how the financial bill gives the government too much power and won't produce results. Or something.

Reichert:

"So we give a czar all this power. So Fannie and Freddie, and now we have a czar that’s in control here, a whole new government program and department that’s been established, more taxpayer dollars being spent, and, and for what?"

Loser: Erica C. Barnett.

Erica's gallavanting around Washington, D.C. We're totes envious. Unfortunately for her, though, she has to miss tonight's blowout Bellevue City Council meeting.
