BikeNerd Josh Cohen was on 94.9 KUOW's "Weekday" this morning to provide some needed balance to a three-person panel on "road diets." As we reported this morning, the panel included two opponents of a proposal to reduce 125th Ave. in Lake City and the city traffic engineer in charge of the project.

Josh was only on for a few minutes, but he managed to squeeze in several good points. Among them: Contrary to what some road-diet opponents claim, cyclists do pay for roads; in fact, they pay for roads out of proportion to the wear-and-tear they create; and speed enforcement, which some have suggested as a substitute for road diets, is an ongoing, costly expenditure.
